In the past nine years, hush has grown from a kitchen table business to establish itself as probably the UK's leading nightwear and loungewear specialist by introducing a much-needed element of chic into an area that fashion had forgotten.
When we started in 2003, there were almost no pyjamas designed for anyone between the ages of six and sixty, ‘sexy’ women’s nightwear looked as if it had been designed by men for men and loungewear was little more than a variation on baggy tee shirts and tracksuit bottoms.
We set about changing that with designs that recognized that comfort need not come at the expense of style, that looking good is an integral part of feeling good and that relaxation involves a lot more than doing nothing.
Our winter range is based around the concept of a cosy night in – loungewear in the form of oversized jumpers and cardigans, lounge trousers and leggings, knitted dresses and tops as well as the brushed cotton pyjamas and nighties with which we established our name.
Our summer range is all about lazy days (and nights) on holiday with a collection of sun dresses, tops, tees and trousers as well as summer pyjamas and shorts that will see you from bed to breakfast, from breakfast to the beach and from the beach to the bar in the evening.
However, hush was always meant to be more than just a collection of products. It is, we hope, a whole aesthetic, as well as an attitude that informs our designs, the level of service we try to provide, the way we communicate etc.
We don’t do things just because it’s what everyone else does; we don’t talk down to you as a customer; we don’t believe that making money is the only or even the best indicator of the success of a business.
For instance, we put an awful lot of love and care into ensuring that every order we send out is beautifully packaged and presented so that opening it will produce much the same sensation as unwrapping a present.
Our weekly newsletter is not designed simply to sell you more hush products – it is meant instead to complement your hush purchases with recommendations of books, films, music and products from other companies that we think will enhance your downtime.
We don't really advertise – we prefer to spend the money on giving you the best possible product and service at a sensible price, trusting that the best advertisement for our business will be the thousands of satisfied customers who tell their friends about us.
