Fabrics
We try to use natural fabrics where possible – and most of our products are made of cotton, silk, cashmere, merino wool, (dehaired) angora wool and bamboo. Or a combination thereof.
However, we do use semi-natural fabrics like viscose in some of our knitwear to enhance the softness (and keep the price down!), as well as wholly man-made fabrics like nylon and elastane to improve durability and help garments hold their shape.
A list of the exact composition of every garment can be found on the individual product page.
Fabric Care
We take great pains to ensure that any items you purchase from hush will last for years, which is why all our fabrics are tested for colour fastness, shrinkage etc. However, it is important that you follow the care instructions sewn into every garment (an extract of which is published on our website). Some of the fibres are delicate and don’t respond well to high temperatures or an hour’s spin in a tumble drier.
Cashmere
Hand wash in lukewarm water (30C) using a mild detergent. Gently squeeze the suds through the fabric, taking care not to rub or stretch the garment. Rinse the garment in cool clean water, squeezing gently without twisting or wringing. Saturated garments should not be lifted before excess water has been gently squeezed out, as they may stretch. A short, light spin in a washing machine will remove most of the water.
Smooth the garment back into shape and place flat on a dry towel. Dry naturally away from direct heat such as radiators and sunlight. Under no circumstances should the garment be tumble-dried. When dry, press lightly with a cool iron.

Pilling
It is a fact of life that very fine fibres like cashmere and angora do ‘pill’. However, we have worked extremely hard on our wools and wool mixes to keep this to a minimum and our test results show that any pilling should be superficial.
Pilling is caused by loose fibres working their way out of the knit and, when they are rubbed, forming little bobbles. These bobbles can easily be removed with a cashmere comb or an electric defuzzer – and the pilling will quickly subside.
Shrinkage
If treated correctly, there should be minimal shrinkage (or stretch) on our garments. However, items made of cotton can shrink a little on first wash as the fabric, which has been stretched taut during manufacture, relaxes. We have added tolerance for this into the sizing of our products.
