We are delighted to finally announce the winner of our competition to design a pair of pyjamas in collaboration with GLAMOUR Magazine.
The competition was launched in Glamour Magazine earlier this year and we received an overwhelming number of entries. A final list of 10 nominees was chosen to face the judging panel; hush Creative Director and Founder Mandy Watkins, GLAMOUR Editor Jo Elvin and Creative & Fashion Director Charlotte-Anne Fidler. Hush Facebook fans were also given the opportunity to see all final nominees and vote for their favourite.
The decision was unanimous and Rebecca Lafont’s ‘swimmers’ were voted the winner of the competition, bagging the grand prize of £300 to spend at hush and the thrill of seeing the print on a pair of pyjamas in our Spring/Summer 2014 collection.
Rebecca told us that her design was inspired by happy memories of the Dorset coast: “The relaxed, unposed and happy shapes people make when they are floating in the sea brings back happy memories for everyone. Mine are from the Dorset coast and the view from our beach hut overlooking the bay. I wanted to capture the essence of this holiday feeling. Once drawn the people became abstract graphic shapes, then adding the colours was really fun. The palette I chose reminded me of summer ice-cream.”
Jo Elvin, GLAMOUR editor, said the Magazine was thrilled with the success of the competition: "In a sea (sorry) of gorgeous shell, seahorse and other underwater creature designs, this one was a quirkier take on the seaside theme. We all agreed that the vintagey vibe of these bathers added something really fresh to the offerings at Hush. I can't wait to lounge in mine!"
