I have honestly spent all of my autumn so far dressed almost exclusively in Hush. I find that when I’m writing at home, the clothes are an ideal combination of dressed and relaxed - smart enough that I feel ready to work and can drop my kids off at school without looking like a slattern, but comfy enough that I still feel as though I’m in pyjamas. I have the Charlene dress in all colourways (if it’s not in the wash, it’s on my back) and it’s just perfect for the job when worn with leggings and cosy socks. I can work, do housework, eat a generous lunch and it remains comfy, stylish and flattering throughout.
During winter evenings and weekends I’ll be wearing the charcoal slim leg joggers and knitted henley, or the toastie navy polka dot PJs, all with the cosy Cardigown over the top. The Cardigown is the most brilliant invention. I get heaps of mail and when I’m wearing it, I can answer the door to the postman and look as though I’m dressed even when I’m barely out of bed. I can wear it as a coat, a dressing gown, something to throw over my frock during chilly evenings.
My casual winter face is quick, subtle and just ‘done’ enough that I can nip out for coffee with a friend and feel nice. I follow serum with Origins Vitazing, a brilliant tinted moisturiser that is rich enough to protect skin from the elements but gives a sheer, healthy summery glow. I follow with dots of Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer to cover any dark shadows and a little Liz Earle Healthy Glow Creme Blush , which makes everyone look perkier and prettier. For eyes, I apply a super fast line with Smashbox’s Waterproof Shadow Liners, which are completely idiot proof, and some Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara. I finish with some tinted lipbalm from Burt’s Bees for a subtle, casual finish that keeps lips moist in harsh cold weather.
