Secrets to a successful summer wardrobe

Hot off the hush summer wardrobe workshop hosted by Harper's Bazaar's Jo Glynn-Smith last week, we asked her to write a guest blog post with her top tips. Thanks, Jo!

I had a great time presenting my ‘secrets of a successful summer wardrobe’ to Harper’s Bazaar readers at The Club at Café Royal.  At the beginning of summer, women often shy away from certain styles, opting for dark cover-ups in fear of showing too much ‘winter’ skin!  But, summer should be a time to have fun with fashion and so with the hush summer collection I set out to show readers how to put together the perfect capsule wardrobes that are bang on trend.

One of my favourite trends that never seems to fade, I featured it my Work Book pages in the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar (with a Hush sweater). Ideal for city dwellers as it’s both smart and summery.

This fashion world is in love with denim, you can see it in so many collections whether it’s used for trousers, jackets, tops, suiting or dresses.  Be brave and layer it up for a double-denim look.

Sunset hues

There’s definitely a colour movement happening this summer, shades of orange are everywhere and they’re bright and fun and look incredible with a tan! When packing for trips, I always try to pack pieces that interplay and this is easily achieved through colour.

The minimalism of white works so well (when you are not anywhere near sticky little fingers!) for evenings.  Try it as an alternative to wearing black and you will feel so elegant – this is an exercise in staying clean!

I am definitely someone who LOVES a cover-up, they are loose and relaxed and hide a million flaws – also can be dressed up and worn on hot summer evenings with a pair of metallic sandals. Shorts are also a great alternative too and have never been more fashionable.
