How did Charlie Bighams come about?
I set up Charlie Bigham’s out of frustration that there isn’t always time to cook a great tasting meal from scratch that is good enough that you want to sit down and enjoy it with someone else. Life it too short for microwave food!
How do you relax/switch off?
I really enjoy catching mackerel, but my favourite way to unwind is cooking puddings with my kids, it always brings a smile to my face.
At the moment my favourite book is Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer
The English Patient
britishlarder.co.uk, this is an incredible food blog by a brilliant chef, it is a brilliant place to get ideas and recipes from for dinner parties.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
No pleasure is worth feeling guilty about.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Life is for living, you only get one go so always make the most of every opportunity.
If you weren’t making pies what would you be doing?
If I hadn’t set up Charlie Bigham’s I’d like to be sailing across an ocean travelling the world. I’ve always enjoyed visiting different countries and cultures and especially enjoy sampling local cuisines.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Charlie Bigham is the founder of the Charlie Bigham's food range, available in Waitrose stores and online at Ocado.
