Watch our new video series...

We all have our own style stumbling blocks – how to wear colours, how to get ready in a hurry, how to layer when it's hot indoors and cold out. When we asked you to share your style dilemmas, we saw a lot of the same issues come up again and again so we wanted to create a series of simple videos to help. We invited professional stylist, Sam Jones from www.thestylealchemy.com, to share her expert knowledge and talk about how to overcome common fashion worries and discover looks that work for you.

Sam on:

Key pieces:

"The Tuxedo Jacket is a key wardrobe staple, everyone should own one. I love the idea of wearing it dressed up with a pair of cropped black tailored trousers, a simple white tank and a pair of manish pointed flats for a smart event. For a more laid back luxe look, you can experiment with a pair of boyfriend jeans, heels or sneakers. It’s the ultimate ‘icing on the cake’ piece."

Getting ready in a hurry:

"Simplicity is key. There’s no need for complicated looks when you’re in a rush, keep style simplistic but chic. Minimum input with maximum output."

Being stuck in a style rut:

"By pushing the boundaries and trying things out, you can find your way out of that style rut. You’ll also be more appreciative and in love with your ‘style uniform’ than ever before."

Introducing colour:

"You don’t need to get your colours done professionally to wear colour confidently. Just experiment and go with what feels right."

Layering:

"Most of us think of layering as something we do to keep warm in winter, rather than something we do to look stylish. But follow a few rules and you can end up with a super current look…"
