It's October already - and with the weather crisp and breezy all of a sudden, never was a day at the spa more deserved! We’ll be recreating the experience at home with our favourite natural beauty-fixes. Give them a try, we’re sure you’ll love them.
Exfoliate with a sugary scrub.
Before showering, mix together a cup each of brown sugar, oats and olive oil and apply on dry skin in slow circular motions. After scrubbing gently all over, step into the shower and rinse off.
Freshen up your skin with a fruity face mask.
Using a pestle and mortar, grind 2tbsp ground oats to a fine powder. Mix in three large ripe strawberries (mashed) and 1tsp single cream until you have a thick paste. Apply to clean skin and leave for ten minutes. Rinse with cool water and pat dry with a towel.
Get glowing with a microdermabrasion treatment.
Mix together 2/3 of a cup of baking soda, 3-4 tablespoons of water and some fresh lemon juice to form a thick paste. Apply generously to face and massage gently in slow circular motions. Rinse with cool water and pat dry with a towel.
Relieve anxiety and tension with some sunny body oil.
In a blender, mix together 2.5tbsp almond oil, 2.5tbsp sunflower oil, 4tsp calendula macerated oil and 20 drops each of geranium and orange oils. Store in a glass airtight container and apply after a warm bath or shower.
Keep lips soft with a polishing scrub.
Mix equal parts honey, olive oil and unrefined sugar and apply to lips in a circular motion. Wipe clean and apply a moisturizing lip balm. Apply 2-3 times per week throughout winter.
