Hush & Friends at Port Eliot

After a couple of months of planning and a fair few visits to the far corners of Cornwall, we're incredibly excited to announce that this summer, from July 28th-31st, hush is going to be at Port Eliot Festival!

Set amongst vast lawns, shaded woodlands and an unspoiled estuary, Port Eliot is the Grade 1 listed stately home to Lord and Lady St Germans (along with their dog Roo), whose family have lived there for over 600 years. And the festival, is literally, in their back garden:

“It’s like falling from the sky into a magic garden where you will be constantly surprised and delighted; where you can drink, dance, discuss, dress up, camp, explore, get lost, fall asleep under the stars to the sound of Andrew Weatherall, and wake up to the ringing of church bells"

...says Cathy St Germans, the Director of Port Eliot Festival. What began as a small literary festival, known as the Elephant Fair, has evolved over the last 13 years to encompass comedy, fashion, film, music and art, with an amazing list of artists lined-up each year. And this year, we're making our festival debut as hosts of what we promise will be the coolest chill-out area on the festival circuit this summer!

Our venue will be a celebration of all things hush;

“We’re always looking for new ways to bring the brand alive and translate what we do online into an offline environment, and we wanted to create a really cool destination to hang out.

“Friendship is a big part of who we are - and that’s why we’ve invited our friends to help us give you and your friends a brilliant festival experience.”

...says Creative director (and founder) of hush Mandy Watkins. There will be fashion talks from our top bloggers and an audience with Mandy, disco yoga rounded off with Bloody Mary's, craft workshops, film screenings and the ultimate in stylish festival lounging.

And as pyjamas are such an essential part of any festival camping weekend – we're planning a special pyjama amnesty to be held on Saturday, where we'll recycle old pyjamas (the older, the better!) and exchange them for a brand new pair from our summer collection.

More to come, in the meantime, here's our roundup of the best things to do, see, eat and enjoy at Port Eliot!

Inspiring women...

A celebration of words, imagination, ideas, creativity and culture - Port Eliot welcomes an array of amazing speakers to it's fields year on year. Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction author Ali Smith, Academy Award winning Costume Designer Sandy Powell, Love, Nina author Nina Stibbe and writer, editor and feminist activist Gloria Steinem are all there this year.

Meaning you'll find us front row for these inspiring women!

For the foodies...

From local Cornish delicacies to cooking from across the globe, eating and drinking is at the heart of Port Eliot Festival, so there'll be plenty of mouth-watering menus and cool street-style set ups to choose from!

We've got our eye on Polpo, the renowned, Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, who are going to create an authentic Venetian bàcaro experience at this year's weekender.

Think freshly-fried fritto misto, sumptuous spicy pork and fennel meatballs, fragrant summer broad bean and mint bruschetta, all washed down with a glass of young Italian wine... perfetto.

For a touch of adventure...

As this is our year of adventure, there's no better place to give the unknown a go than at Port Eliot Festival, with it's exciting program of workshops (Botanical Illustration anyone?) and outdoor activities.

Wild swimming, canoeing, kayaking, archery, exploring and foraging are all taking place, so you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to discovering new experiences and expanding your horizons...

Make your summer memorable with an evening under the stars, sipping on cocktails and Stargazing or take to the waves with George's Surf School, in preparation for our June Competition (keep your eyes peeled, we'll be announcing this soon)!

For the kids...

With family at the forefront of the festival, bring out the child in you as well as your children for a fun-filled weekend of magic and enchantment.

Magicians, artists, illustrators, performers and musicians make imaginary worlds come alive, through arts and crafts, treasure hunts, workshops and spellbinding bedtime stories.

Our favourites include The Eden Project, who are bringing their 'Destination Space' program and award-winning Rogue Theatre Company who are hosting this year's Hullabaloo (our festival neighbour), a hidden wooded area dedicated to children, with something marvelous lurk behind every corner...
