Good times, guaranteed.
Whether you’re scrolling through Instagram, or just glancing around the bus, animal prints - from leopard spots to zebra stripes and slinky snakeskin - are definitely having a moment. And now we’re moving into the festive season, we’ve realised they’re a great place to start for party dressing.
Think Kate Moss heading to the Groucho in a cheetah print coat. Carine Roitfeld strutting out a Parisian bar in a zebra trench. Shania Twain taking leopard to the next level in the video for That Don’t Impress Me Much (a total tune, may we add).
It’s a little bit rock 'n' roll, a little glam, and pairs very well with black: in other words, it’s a simple shortcut to a party-ready look.
How? Combine with metallics for extra drama and razzle-dazzle. Maybe add a dash of bold colour (pillar box red with leopard print is like mulled wine with mince pies: made for each other). Channel Blondie and wear with leather leggings for pure rock chic.
If you’re after something a bit more low-key, snakeskin prints are somewhat subtler; wear it in a blue wash with our Freesia Midi Dress, or in ‘natural’ grey tones with our Harlow Boots. Alternatively, go for a textured all-black leopard print which is less shouty, but still adds a touch of glamour to your look, and mixes up an all-black uniform. (Try our Wrap Devore Dress, or our Tandy Devore Skirt)
A leopard print silk cami, or maxi slip dress, under a leather jacket feels very Emanuelle Alt, but for a really head-turning outfit, we’re unleashing our inner Beyonce/Sasha Fierce with statement animal print wide-leg trousers. Honestly, nothing says ‘let’s hit the dance floor’ like our Costello Printed Trousers.
Party season is a time for embracing your inner peacock (or in this case, zebra), after all. See you at the bar.
