Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

From the very beginning, our aim has been to ensure that everyone feels welcome at Hush. From colleagues and would-be employees to customers and those we work with every day – it’s our mission to foster an environment where people can be themselves, feel valued and be comfortable sharing their thoughts and opinions.

We believe it’s that collaborative spirit that will not only mean that people enjoy working with us but will help us do our best and most innovative work. We value individuality, uniqueness, and difference in opinion – it’s what makes us think twice and think better. It’s what sets us apart from the rest and makes us who we are.

As a business, that means our leadership team is committed to embedding DE&I into everything we do. Allyship is hugely important to us and, as a team, we expect everyone at Hush to treat each other with respect every day.

How we recruit

Holding ourselves accountable for how we recruit is very important to us. So, to ensure our recruitment process is equitable at every step, we’re always looking at ways to widen our talent pool and actively attract people from a range of demographics – and most importantly, to create a welcoming environment for those who want to join Hush.

Offering opportunity

We actively seek to offer opportunities in the world of ecommerce and fashion to young talent from all walks of life. We run apprenticeship schemes and a paid internship program, through which we welcome students for work placements throughout the year. We are aware that there is much, much more we can do – and we are committed to doing it.

Constantly learning

We believe we should all be seizing the opportunity to learn from each other, so we’ve set up various internal initiatives to support that conversation. From our book club and regular internal talks, to a program of Lunch & Learn sessions and our fantastic People Committee – we encourage team members to share their skills, thoughts and experiences so that we might all become more aware, better educated and more inclusive.

Measuring and reviewing

Measuring the impact of our work and progress is key if we want to keep moving forward. Our annual demographic survey helps us keep track of representation across the business and our engagement survey holds us accountable for how people are feeling as well as giving us a springboard for change.
