After a couple of weeks of awkward in-between-season dressing, it’s finally time for layering to have its moment. As a designer, I know how tricky it can be to get it right, so here are two ways I’m making layered outfits look effortlessly stylish.

Suede Bomber Jacket
Bree Horseshoe Barrel Leg Jeans

Juni Crew Neck Wool Blend Cardigan

When it comes to putting an outfit together, I like to have a formula. First, I’ll pick a staple piece I want to base my outfit around – usually depending on my mood. For my first outfit, I’ve chosen our butter-soft Suede Bomber Jacket. Just about thick enough to keep you warm, but light enough to leave room for layers,  it’s the ultimate transitional piece. And can we talk about the colour? This gorgeous toffee brown shade is autumn personified – and goes with just about anything.

It’s not quite cold enough for heavy knitwear yet, so a cardi layered over a white jersey base is my go-to. I’m loving our Juni Crew Neck Wool Blend Cardigan in mid grey marl, this season’s most versatile shade. It pairs really well with our Bree Horseshoe Barrel Leg Jeans; I’m really into a darker indigo wash these days.

Crew Neck Alpaca Wool Jumper

For outfit two, the centrepiece is our Crew Neck Alpaca Wool Jumper. Its easy neckline makes it perfect for layering – whether over a simple long tee or an airy tank top.

Next, I like to play with textures and shapes. One of my favourite styling tricks is tonal dressing – mixing pieces in varying but complementary shades to highlight cosy textures and make getting dressed feel fuss-free. I’ve gone for our Velvet Cropped Bree Barrel Leg Jeans – I couldn’t resist now that the weather’s cooler. Barrel jeans are still big right now, and I love how their relaxed shape keeps things laid-back while the tapered leg gives just the right peek for a great pair of loafers or boots. For outerwear, I’ve thrown on a plush borg jacket to dial up the cosy-cool. Obsessed!
