WINTER PICKS
Our creative director's favourite styles
As a person who loves fashion and hates the cold, I often look forward to winter because I can have fun with layering and just generally wear more clothes.
These pieces made it into my next Hush order because they are cosy, can be worn different ways, and have an easy attitude to them that's as important to me when dressing up as it is on weekends.
Grey marl hoodie I love the oversized shape of this classic grey marl hoodie; it takes a sweatshirt from basic to luxe. On weekends, I’m wearing it under wool overcoats. Monday to Friday, it’s adding attitude to silk slip dresses and heeled boots. | Gold chunky hoops These Jenny Bird gold hoops have been on my wishlist for a while, so I was thrilled when we partnered with this gorgeous brand. The devil is in the detail, particularly the chunkiness of the hoop and the back fastening, which is really noticeable with your hair up. |
A new coat I definitely don’t need a new coat, but I hate the cold. So, if I need to be out and about, a new coat makes winter a little more enjoyable. I love the rich colour and the easy silhouette of this one. I’ll be wearing it over double indigo denim and pointy boots, or a slouchy suit and sneakers. | Wide-leg jeans The mid-wash of these wide-leg jeans makes them perfect for now. I wear them with blazers, checked overcoats, cashmere boyfriend jumpers – everything. It’s taken me a while to get into the lower rise waist but I love how it makes outfits look fresh and new. |
Grey sweatshirt dress A grey marl sweatshirt has inbuilt cred and cool thanks to its American sportswear roots. So, I love being able to bring this attitude to a dress. It’s easy to wear and the fleece fabric is unbelievably cosy. I’m styling it with a chunky chain and unexpected shoes (like our silver leather boots) to elevate the look. | The statement knit I’m always happy when sweater season arrives and I can update my wardrobe with a new statement knit. The minute I saw this piece I knew it was the one. The stitching detail on the sleeves and shoulder makes this knit very now – and very special. |
Knitted hood For weekend walks and workdays. If you travel on the tube like I do, you need one of these! You can whip it on and off easily, so it’s perfect for keeping the chill away without feeling too bundled up. | Fringe-trim dress I’m really looking forward to wearing this fringe-hemmed dress on repeat throughout December. The trim brings just enough disco to the T-shirt shape, so I feel dressed up and laid-back at the same time. |
Glitter top This crystal-embellished mesh top gives me cool ‘00s vibes, especially with jeans. I’m going to make a real point of not saving this top for best and look forward to sparkling through the office, under the disco ball and in the aisles of the supermarket – 'tis the season, after all. | Sparkle disco bag You have to see this bag in real life to believe how cute it is! The diamante is mesmerising to look at. Again, I won’t be saving this for evenings, it’s a solid Saturday brunch bag. Bring on the joy. |
