I might have graduated class years back, but September’s back-to-school feeling never leaves me, and I always look forward to it. There’s something about the collective energy at this time of year that makes me excited about getting dressed in new ways. This anticipation of new trends, I’ve found, is one of the best remedies for end-of-summer blues. Below, are five great pieces from our new September collection that I hope will help you break into the new season and feel excited about it too. There are some new shapes to explore and, as ever, beautiful pieces designed to be worn in many ways and to last for a long time.

Transitional tie dye I’ve recently been wearing a lot of separates, but I think it’s important to have a dress that you can just throw on and that you know will look and feel good. I love that this dress is made from recycled fabric and that it has a super flattering gathered detail at the front. Plus, the chocolate brown and pink tie-dyed print is the perfect transitional colour palette that can take you from end-of-summer’s golden hour right up to Christmas.”

Wardrobe updating jeans A new jean shape (or colour) is a great way to update your wardrobe when going into a new season. I love these barrel legs because they offer something different from the baggy jeans we’ve been wearing of late and they’re surprisingly versatile. The mid-high waist is perfect for tucking in tops and showing off belts and the slight stretch fabric is so soft that I wear them like joggers, all day long. The shorter length is also perfect for rainy days in the UK. I style mine with a sheer blouse and kitten heel pump, but on weekends I wear them cashmere sweaters and a super easy heavy-soled boot.

Culottes I’m a huge fan of culottes. I love the sense of drama they bring to an outfit. And that they combine the elegance of a skirt with the pragmatic attitude of a trouser. I particularly love these ones because of the subtle metallic pinstripe – a cute Hush twist on a traditional idea. This winter I'll be wearing these with a patent belt, flat knee boots and cashmere sweaters. They’re just so easy and comfortable.

Shorts for skirt fans The Bermuda short has become a firm fixture in my wardrobe over summer and our new Ayla short is a great way to take them into autumn. I love the mid-weight drapey tailoring of this pair and their great pleating. They have the casual attitude of a pair of shorts but you can also dress them up and treat them like a tailored trouser. I wear mine with our crew neck Merino jumper and white leather boots, or a casual tee and ballet pumps on the weekend.

The new black flatsYour new wear-with-everything black flats are now ox-blood. This beautiful rich shade goes with everything (trust me) and is turning out to be the season’s most-loved colour. I treat these buttery-soft leather ballet flats like a neutral and wear them with everything from jeans to chinos, Bermudas and maxi skirts.
