8 new styles to relieve our fashion fatigue

OLIVIA DURIE

Bored of wearing the same things since February? We can relate. So here are some new pieces that’ll manifest summer and make getting dressed exciting again: the ballet skirt, the basket bag, the striped trousers… they just feel fresh.

The double denim set Let’s state the obvious for a second: a co-ord is versatile. But a denim co-ord? Your summer wardrobe will revolve around it. Together, our shirt and shorts master that laid-back but put-together thing. Separately, the shorts work with literally all your tops, and the shirt looks great with linen trousers or worn open as a jacket.

The new going-out top Sunset plans call for shoulders-out tops. And the thing that makes our Aminah bandeau feel fresh is the simple handkerchief cut (it’s having a moment) and a cool, surprisingly wearable geo print. Throw it on with jeans, sweep up your hair, and add some earrings for a little drama.

The linen dressHow to stay chic in the heat? Black linen. Our Maggie dress is one of those genuine throw-on-and-go styles, because it looks great with little accessorising, and will pretty much take you anywhere in summer. A pair of leather sandals and a straw bag will help you toe the line between easy and elevated.

The striped trousersEvery capsule wardrobe needs a great pair of summer trousers. These have a wide leg and are made from breezy cotton, so they’re primed for a day in the heat, and a subtle pinstripe keeps the look classic. We’ll be wearing them with trending waistcoats, billowy shirts and even a staple tee – they just do it all.

The leather basketIt's the bag of the moment, and it does that high-low thing that we love. How? It’s got the laid-back vibe of a summer basket bag with the chic finish of leather. Throw your laptop in there for those working-from-anywhere days or take it away and fill it with your holiday essentials.

The ballet skirtIf you’re going to invest in a skirt this season, make it a balletcore maxi. It feels fresh and classic at the same time, and it’s a great way to elevate summer’s easy tees and linen vests. Keep it delicate with ballet flats, or subvert the style with trainers.

The summer waistcoatWaistcoats are the new tops. Because when you wear them on their own, they channel that I-just-threw-this-on energy that we love. That’s why they’re great for summer, especially in soft knit form like this one. Go tonal with cotton trousers for a fresh take on tailoring.

The fisherman sandalIt’s a little bit dad-sandal, but still manages to look chic with everything. And a summer sandal has got to be comfortable as much as look great – which is why we love the supple leather and moulded sole of our Rose pair.
